A very striking bracelet made of oxidized silver and high-quality faceted, natural minerals: black spinel briolettes and orange carnelian. To emphasize the character of the bracelet, I added botanical motifs – silver leaves. Each stone is individually attached to a thick chain on a handmade, silver pin. The bracelet produces a pleasant sound with every movement of the wrist.

Carnelian, a semi-precious stone cherished throughout history, is known for its captivating shades of orange and red. This beautiful stone is a variety of chalcedony, a mineral in the quartz family, and its rich color comes from the presence of iron oxide. Historically, carnelian was widely used in ancient civilizations; it was particularly popular in Egypt, where it was believed to have protective powers and was used in amulets and jewelry. The ancient Romans also valued carnelian, often using it for signet rings as it does not stick to wax, making it ideal for sealing documents.

Carnelian jewelry has been a timeless adornment, treasured for both its beauty and its supposed metaphysical properties. It is believed to bring courage, vitality, and motivation to those who wear it. A carnelian bracelet, often made with polished, smooth stones, is not just an accessory but a statement piece that blends historical richness with contemporary fashion. These bracelets are popular for their bold color and the sense of energy they impart. Carnelian is found in various parts of the world, including India, Brazil, and Uruguay, making it both accessible and diverse in its forms. Whether set in simple designs or intricate patterns, carnelian remains a favorite for those who appreciate the blend of natural beauty and historical significance.

Spinel, a gemstone with a unique allure and a rich history, is gaining recognition for its array of vibrant colors, including deep reds, bright pinks, and striking blues. Often mistaken for rubies or sapphires in the past due to its similarity in appearance, spinel has adorned many royal jewels and famous artifacts. Its most notable historical appearances include the “Black Prince’s Ruby” and the “Timur Ruby” in the British Crown Jewels, which are actually large red spinels. Originating from various parts of the world, significant sources of spinel include Afghanistan, Myanmar (Burma), Sri Lanka, and Vietnam, often found alongside sapphire and ruby deposits.

The beauty of spinel has made it a sought-after gemstone for modern jewelry, with spinel jewelry becoming increasingly popular. A spinel bracelet, showcasing the stone’s array of colors, offers a unique and sophisticated addition to any jewelry collection. The stone’s natural brilliance and hardness make it a practical choice for everyday wear. What sets spinel apart is that most spinels are untreated, displaying their natural beauty without enhancement, a rarity in the current gemstone market. This, coupled with the stone’s varied palette, makes spinel bracelets and other jewelry pieces not just attractive, but also valuable for their authenticity and natural charm.
